Frequently Asked Questions

We would be happy to answer any additional question you may have.  Please email any questions to cccac.program@gmail.com.

When do exchanges take place?

Exchanges are Wednesdays from 3:30 pm - 8:30 pm and on Fridays and Sundays between 4 pm and 7 pm.  Exchange times will be discussed and set to best meet the needs of parents and the center.

How does it work?

All families are court ordered to use the Center.  You are asked to schedule an Orientation within ten days of recieving your order.

Question:  What will happen at Orientation?

At the Orientation, you will meet the staff, recieve information, and tour the Center.

 When can exchanges begin?

The exchanges will begin once both parents have had an orientation and are approved to use the Center.

Where do exchanges take place?

All exchanges occur at the Bellefonte Family Resource Center (310 North Allegheny Street, Bellefonte), located directly across the street from the Bellefonte Area Elementary School.

What do I need to bring to Orientation?

-Current photo ID

-Copy of your court order

-Copy of your Protection From Abuse (PFA) Order (when appropriate)

-Questions or concerns you may have about the Center

Who can use the Center?

You need a court order to use the Center. You can contact your attorney or the Court Administrator (355-6727) and ask how to obtain a court order.

How much does it cost to use the Center?

Currently there is NO COST to use the Center.

Why would I have to use the Center for exchanges?

The purpose of the Center is to provide a safe, comfortable setting where parents have no direct contact during exchanges. Children can continue to have a positive relationship with both parents without being exposed to adult issues. Safety for all is our primary goal.

Who will be present at the exchanges?

There is a staff member and several trained volunteers who assist with the exchanges.  All staff and volunteers have criminal background checks and clearances for child abuse.

Do you make reports to the courts about the parents?

We do not perform evaluations or make any recommendations.  We do contact the court if you have not scheduled your orientation within the ten day period required in your court order. Any other information that is shared with the court is at the discretion of each parent.

Are you mandated to report child abuse?

Yes, we are required by law to report any suspected child abuse.

What if our custody arrangements change?

We ask that you keep the Center staff informed of any changes that would affect your exchange schedule.

How long do we need to use the Center?

Since you are court ordered to use the Center you (parents) would need to contact the judge if you feel you are ready to make other arrangements.  The Center does NOT decide how long you use our services. The decision belongs to you and the court.
